Alabama fourth-year wide receiver Slade Bolden announced Friday that he is entering the upcoming NFL draft.
Bolden made the announcement in a Twitter post early Friday afternoon, writing, “I played my heart out every game and did everything I could to help this team win.”
More in Alabama sports:
Bolden had two years of eligibility remaining because he redshirted as a freshman in 2018 and also had the NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver available to use. He was listed as a redshirt junior this past season and was not among the players the team honored on Senior Day in November.
Bolden emerged as the Tide’s slot receiver after Jaylen Waddle’s midseason injury in 2020 and has played extensively since, including as a punt returner and as a quarterback in some Wildcat, or “Sladecat,” formations. He finished this past season with 42 catches for 408 yards and three touchdowns, including one in the Cotton Bowl.
Bolden joins junior Jameson Williams in Alabama wide receivers declaring for the NFL draft this week, with junior John Metchie having until Monday to make a decision himself. Between those three players as well as tight end Jahleel Billingsley and wide receivers Javon Baker, who both entered the transfer portal this week, Alabama could lose a total of 241 catches, 3,479 receiving yards and 30 touchdown catches from its 2021 team.
Seniors entering NFL draft: RB Brian Robinson (Senior Bowl/eligibility exhausted), DL Phidarian Mathis (Senior Bowl), OLB Christopher Allen, CB Josh Jobe, OL Chris Owens (eligibility exhausted)
Juniors entering NFL draft: OT Evan Neal, WR Jameson Williams, WR Slade Bolden (redshirt junior)
Scholarship players entering transfer portal: QB Paul Tyson, WR Javon Baker, TE Jahleel Billingsley, OL Tommy Brown, ILB Jaylen Moody, ILB Shane Lee, OLB Drew Sanders, OLB King Mwikuta (Arkansas State)
